So, Caroline brought to my attention that i might need to update my blog...and i guess she's right, a few things have happened since June 10th, 2006. :)
We'll start with June 11th. Okay, well i got up at about 9am, and had some toast for breakfast....okay, nevermind, lol, i will give you the long stroy short and summerize the last 5-6 months.
My summer was pretty busy, i worked full-time during the day and then part-time at night...that took up basically all my time, so sadly i didn't get to do much else. I made a lot of money which was good...too bad it didn't last long...why does college have to cost so much!! This next summer is going to be a lot of the same...my mom says i need to have 2 jobs again...3 would be even better.
Fall semester went pretty good. I almost died. But i didn't, so all is well! :) As many of you have heard, my archtiecture studio desk became my home. I worked there, ate there and even bought an air mattress to sleep there when i needed to take a quick hour or two rest at 7am after working all day and all night--then back to work. Sleep deprived was my new middle name.
The crazy demands of the architecture program really made me question whether it was really wanted to do for the rest of my life...but amazingly enough, the program didn't get easier over the semester, i just got used to it, and finally i have decided that this is what i want to do.
Kristy and i ran the Twin Cities Marathon in 4hrs 47min on Oct. 1st. I was just happy i got there...see Oct. 1st was also the due date of my first architecture project in studio. I worked day and night for about two weeks trying to finish the day before so i could drive down to the cities and run the marathon the next day. It was late afternoon on the day before and i was running around like a chicken with my head cut off, trying to finish up my project...with my mom calling every 2 minutes asking if i was done yet, to hurry up and if they sound start drving to fargo. At one point she told me that it was getting too late, and we just shouldn't go, and i would be too tired to run anyways...i wasn't in the best state most likely malnurished and sleep deprived. But i told her that i had trained 18 weeks for this and i was going! We arrived in the cities around midnight, just hours before Kristy and i would run. Kristy had arrived earlier that day and was staying with friends.
I was extremely worried about something bad happening to me during the race. I was in no condition to run a marathon. But amazing things happen and it went okay. Kristy pulled me through it, we finished 17 minutes behind what we had planned for but i'll take it, it was faster than my first. And i was mostly just happy i didn't collapse--i felt so tired during the week just standing around, i was worried what would happen to me if i ran for 4 hours. I told Kristy to finish w/out me if i did collapse and that kinda scared here...she made me promise to quit the race before it came to that. But i'm not a quitter, so who knows what would have happened if i did start feeling really bad.
Anyways, the next 2 projects of the semester went good, it was nice to be able to relax after finshing them, not going to run a marathon!
Christmas and New Years was good, i worked to help out my bank account...the story of my life i guess.
The first few weeks of class have gone pretty good, i have 2 computer classes, 1 of them is learning how to use architectural computer drawing programs, a architectural history class and then of course my 6 credit arch. studio class. Not too many classes but i know i'll be busy.
Kristy and i hope to run the half marathon in fargo in may. I have a lot of work to do before then...i haven't run much since the marathon....
I'm still working in the library for work-study, typing up stuff for the Germans from Russia Heritage Collection. Fun, fun.
I guess, that's about it...i'll leave out the just dandy stories about roommates, i won't make you suffer too :)
Hopefully the next post will be before next fall, lol
Have a great spring everybody!!
